Self-Inquiry Gatherings: Inviting Awareness & Presence
(meditation, self-inquiry exercises, & dialogue)
Self-inquiry begins with realizing that we do not know exactly how we are meant to unfold.
It encourages us to take our own experience seriously and be open to the answers that resonate
from within. All of us know the experience of giving up, asking for an answer, and having that
answer appear as if miraculously. These gatherings will give you the opportunity to explore your
own spiritual journey in the company of others who are doing the same. The spirit of the
gathering is absolutely non-judgmental and absolutely curious: when we see that we do not know
what we might find, the miraculous has space to appear.
Workshops
Freedom from the Inner Critic
The Inner Critic (a.k.a. Superego) is the inner voice that is always criticizing us for not living
up to certain standards. The Inner Critic was born when we were little and trying to win our parents’
love. Most people are not aware of how this harsh inner voice gets in the way of our personal and
spiritual growth. Writers refer to it as “writers’ block.” Even if we are not writers, we know that
sometimes we feel paralyzed or hopeless just when we want to do something new for ourselves or make
some kind of change.
This experiential Enneagram workshop focuses on recognizing and disarming both self-criticism, which
is the number one barrier to happiness, as well as subtle and overt criticism in your environment.
Each personality type has a characteristic inner critic style. You’ll learn how to recognize yours
and practice defending against attacks from within yourself or from others who may “mean well” but
who don’t know how to be truly helpful.
Requirements: Basic familiarity with the Enneagram will be helpful. My handy pocket guide
to the Enneagram, Relationships Made Easy: How to get along with all kinds of people, is free if
you register at least 10 days prior to the workshop.
Enneagram Role-Playing Workshop Especially for Coaches
Many coaches today are familiar with the Enneagram, which is an extraordinarily insightful map for
identifying the personality features that have an often adverse effect on people’s life choices and
their ability to make meaningful changes.
Sarah Aschenbach, a respected Enneagram trainer and the developer of EnneaDramaSM, is offering a unique,
two-day experiential workshop to give coaches actual experience of the energies and preoccupations of
the 9 personality types of the Enneagram. The workshop will feature role-playing exercises showing how
the types interact in typical situations.
Better by far than reading an Enneagram book, this workshop will give you a real feel for what the
Enneagram has to offer. After you register, you will be invited to email Sarah in advance about specific
issues you are dealing with as a coach and in your relationships, and the workshop will be tailored to
address those needs.
Requirements: Some knowledge of the Enneagram is required. Upon registration, participants will receive
Sarah’s handy pocket guide to the Enneagram, Relationships Made Easy: How to get along with all kinds of people.
